Nueva imagen y marca ganadora – New image and winning brand-name

Estimados amigos y familiares,

Estamos felices de poder compartir con ustedes la nueva imagen de EcoCultura!

Esta imagen nos recuerda como las ideas y esfuerzos conjuntos van haciendo eco en nuestra comunidad.

Queremos agradecerle a Margarita Rodríguez, increíble arquitecta y diseñadora, quien se ha unido a nuestro equipo para brindarnos apoyo en diseño gráfico. Gracias Márgara por tu amistad, tu apoyo, tu energía y tu talento. Has logrado representar gráficamente el espíritu de EcoCultura!

También queremos anunciarles que BambooCo Bikes es el nombre ganador del concurso de marca que hicimos en Facebook.

Gracias a Claudia Esteban por proponer el nombre escogido para la marca que con orgullo llevarán los marcos y las bicicletas de este proyecto. Mil gracias también a todos los que participaron y nos ayudaron con sus ideas. Fué un proceso colectivo enriquecedor y exitoso.

Esperamos pronto tener el logo para la marca y compartirlo con ustedes.

We are delighted to share with you EcoCultura’s new image and logo!

To us, this image is a reminder that ideas and collective efforts echo throughout our communities.

We want to thank Margarita Rodriguez, an incredible Architect and Designer, who has joined EcoCultura to contribute with her talent in graphic design. Thank you Margara for your friendship, your support, your energy and your great talent! You have been able to graphically capture the spirit of EcoCultura!

We also want to announce that BambooCo Bikes is the winner of the brand name contest we had on Facebook.

Thanks to Claudia Esteban for proposing the name selected for the brand that will be proudly carried by the frames and the bikes of this project. We also want to thank all of you who participated and helped us with your ideas. This was an enriching collective effort that was a complete success!

We are looking forward to share the new BambooCo logo with all of you soon!

Festival de Grassroots en Virginia Key y compostaje – Composting at the Virginia Key Grassroots Festival

El pasado fin de semana (Febrero 21-24), EcoCultura  asistió al  Festival de Grassroots de Virginia Key. Este es un festival que esta diseñado para mostrar diversidad musical y cultural. Durante 4 días el público disfrutó de música (40 bandas), artesanías, comida, meditación y yoga, además de información sobre iniciativas de sustentabilidad en el área de Miami.

Colaboramos con Fertil Earth Foundation para tener presencia en este festival. Fertil Earth Foundation es una organización de Miami creada para educar, inspirar e impulsar cambios en la comunidad y para iniciar un diálogo entre la comunidad, los negocios y las municipalidades en temas de sustentabilidad. Promueve desde su inicio la reducción de residuos en la fuente y la utilización de materia orgánica para hacer abono.

Prestamos el servicio de recolección de los residuos orgánicos, principalmente del área de la cocina, y durante  los 4 días se recolectaron 2,285,5 lbs. de comida que alimentaron animales de fincas locales, en lugar de llegar al basurero.

También tuvimos una mesa en el pabellón de sustentabilidad en donde ofrecimos información sobre compostaje y lombri-compuesto, vendimos productos relacionados a estos temas y se dictó un taller en métodos de compostaje que tuvo una gran acogida.

Gracias a los organizadores del Virginia Key Grassroots Festival, a Fertile Earth Foundation y a todos aquellos que vinieron a aprender sobre compostaje, lombrices y más. Fue un honor haber sido parte de este festival!

Last weekend (February 21-24) EcoCultura participated in the Annual Virginia Key Grassroots Festival. This is a festival that promotes diversity in music and culture. During 4 days, the public was able to enjoy great music (40 bands), art, food, yoga and meditation, and information about sustainable initiatives in the Miami area.

We collaborated with Fertil Earth Foundation to be present in the festival. Fertile Earth Foundation is an organization created to educate, inspire and spark change in the community, and initiate a dialogue between the community, businesses and municipalities. Since its inception, they promote waste reduction at the source and the use of organic material for composting.

We offered the service to collect the organic residues from the festival- primarily from the kitchen area- and during the 4 days we diverted 2,285.5 lbs. of organic matter from the wastelands by offering it to feed local animals and to be composted.

We also had a table in the Sustainability fair where we gave information about composting and vermicomposting, sold products related to those topics and gave a composting workshop that had great attendance.

Many thanks to the organizers of the Virginia Key Grassroots Festival, to Fertile Earth Foundation and to those who came to learn about composting, worms and much more. It was an honor to be part of this festival!
